A Christian Success Story

We often place tremendous pressure upon ourselves to achieve that which the world deems as “success”. At least, I have been as of late. However, the path of success for a Christian should be indicative of spiritual development. As we place our faith first, there follows a yearning to grow more Christ-like in attitude and behavior. We recognize the truth that success cannot be defined by the world’s standards. For Christians, there should be delight in serving, rather than being served. We are blessed by being a blessing to others and should celebrate giving freely, not expecting in return. These achievements are steppingstones towards a life well-lived in Christ. Christ’s grace proceeds our deeds as faithful servants; this life of faith naturally results in good fruit:
Revelation 20:12-13 KJV
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
You, Reader, may have achieved a certain level of worldly success. Perhaps you bask in the adulation of a captive audience, or have amassed enormous wealth. You might even be considered a powerful figure, wielding great authority over those less fortunate.
You have probably worked hard for it; or maybe you have the right connections. However, as you stand at heaven’s gate your sphere of influence, wealth or power will mean fundamentally nothing. Your spot in heaven may even be uprooted by a poor soul who suffered gladly for the sake of Christ in the earthly realm. That person may never have achieved worldly riches or renown as they sought to feed the poor, comfort the suffering and clothe the naked.
Matthew 5:16 KJV serves as a needed reminder to all of us:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Let us each be a Christian “Success Story”, regardless of personal circumstance.

This is such a good reminder because the world teaches us to chase recognition, status, and success, but God looks at the heart and how we love, serve, and obey Him. A life surrendered to Christ will always matter more than worldly applause (hands down). Blessings Mel.
