Dear Celebrity Sister

Lately, there’s been a lot of commentary regarding celebrities giving their lives to Christ; which is a wonderful thing. To be a Christian, however, is a lot more than just a profession of faith. To be solid in the faith, one needs to act in alignment with Christ’s example:

1 John 2:6 KJV

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

To follow Christ’s example leads to a changed heart:

Galatians 5:22-23 KJV

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Now we all fall short of these virtues at times. However, our desire should be to reflect them in our lives. Our lifestyles, subsequently, enter into alignment with Christ’s will for us.

We begin to avoid certain places and people which contribute to leading us astray. Celebrities often frequent wild parties, clubs and bars. Turn away from those activities. “But that’s where my friends go”, you protest. If they are truly your friends, they want what’s best for you. If you have happiness in Christ, they should accept it (and hopefully follow your lead). Good friends will join you in alternative, yet fun, activities. There are tons of wholesome activities to choose from: Board Games, Day Trips, Brunch and so on…Let’s be honest, a good time isn’t defined by prepping hair and makeup for an hour before clubbing. Trying to dance in a too tight outfit and sky-high heels is, at best, awkward and suffering with a throbbing hangover headache is not fun. Worse yet is finding some strange man in your bed, or you in his (which is plain dangerous).

I hope this Substack isn’t coming across as a lecture. I love you and want what’s best for you.

My purpose in writing this is to be welcome and warn you. The Christian walk is incredibly rewarding, but Satan lurks, awaiting our stumble. We will inevitable do so, as we are not perfect. Christ recognizes this. We repent, dust ourselves off and carry on. He is so forgiving, yet we are not to take that forgiveness lightly.

As a “Celebrity”, you have the ability to influence many lives for the better, or for the worse. May God bless your choice to embrace Christianity. Your decision will most likely lead others to Christ as you will serve as an example of faith in action.

It’s a big responsibility, but you are up to it.
